October Faith Conversation

  1. Opening: As best as you can remember, what has been the most exciting moment in your life to this point?

Thought/Discussion: There will be many exciting and challenging moments in life. You won’t be there for all of them—but God will. Remind each other that God is always there.   Discuss times, maybe hard times when you felt like God was there for support?

Bible Verse:  Jesus said to his disciples before he returned to Heaven …… “Lo, I am with you always, even to the end of time.”  He’s with us through both the Highs and Lows.  He’s promised that.

2. Opening: If you could safely witness any special effect being filmed for a movie, which one would you want to see above all others?

Thought/Discussion: Sometimes we expect God to appear in our lives like a special effect in a blockbuster movie. But it’s more likely that we’ll recognize God in the ripple rather than in the wave, or hear God in the silent aftermath rather than the raging storm—if only we take time to look and to listen.  God’s voice is like a silent whisper or a silent thought he places in our minds.  Are you listening when you pray? Do you have a quiet time where you spend with God?

Bible Verse: Psalm 46:10 “Be still and no that I am God”

3.Opening: If you could permanently eliminate any one part of your daily routine, what would it be?

Thought/Discussion:  True enlightenment comes in discovering that even our mundane moments are charged with the grandeur of God’s presence and love. Pay attention and you will see the ways that God is present in both the high points and low points of each and every day.  This is hard point to understand.  How God be present for example in taking out the Garbage or some other boring task or job?  (Thankful we have a place to take trash….many 3rd world countries do not..).   Maybe we can be an example to others by not complaining but being of good cheer despite the mundane task….what do you think? Or, how about at school.  How can we model our faith in the classroom at school and among our friends?

Bible Verse: 1 Cor. 10:31  “…whatever you do, do for the glory of God”
